Ho Chi Minh City to host Southern Fruit Festival


The Southern Fruit Festival will open at the Suoi Tien Park in HCM City’s District 9 on June 1. The annual event, held by the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to introduce domestic and foreign visitors wide range of fruit from the South and other regions of the country.

Bac Ha Horse Race 2011


The Fifth Bac Ha Traditional Horse Race Open 2011 will take place on May 28th and 29th at the Bac Ha Town Stadium (Lao Cai Province). This event, hosted by the People's Committee of Bac Ha District, is one of the activities in the tourism program “Returning to Roots 2011” of three provinces, including Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai. 

Horse race is a unique culture - sport activity of ethnic groups in Bac Ha District, especially Mong ethnic group. This activity existed many years ago but it had been lost in oblivion. Not until 2007, the race has been reorganized to meet the spiritual needs, conserve and develop the cultural character of mountainous ethnic groups in Bac Ha as well as contribute to promoting the image of land and people of Lao Cai to domestic and international visitors.

Quang Binh Culture and Tourism Week 2011


The Quang Binh Culture and Tourism Week 2011 with many plentiful and diversified activities will take place from June 5 to 11, 2011 in Quang Binh Province. This is the first event held to welcome the new tourism season in Quang Binh.

Inauguration of tour to Chay River - Hang Toi (Dark Cave) in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park World Natural Heritage on June 5 is opening activity for Quang Binh Culture and Tourism Week 2011. After coming into operation, this tour will be linked with other tourist spots in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to become a closed tour with itinerary as follows: Phong Nha Grotto - Tien Son Grotto - Chay River – Hang Toi – Nuoc Mooc Spring Eco-trail - Paradise Grotto - Tam Co (Eight Ladies) Cave and temple of commemorating heroic martyrs on Road 20 - Quyet Thang.

Da Lat flower festival to feature wide range of activities


As many as 18 programmes will take place during the Da Lat Flower Festival to be held in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong from December 30, 2011 to January 3, 2012.

Major programmes will include an international flower exhibition, a street flower parade, a flower market-day, a cuisine and flower festival, and a seminar on flower.

Central ethnic minority cultural festival kicks off


The Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival for people in the Central and Central Highlands regions kicked off on July 1 in the southern central province of Phu Yen. 

The event, as part of the National Tourism Year 2011 which puts spotlight in sea and island tourism, drew the participation of 500 artists from 14 regional provinces, who brought to the audience their most distinctive traditional music performances. 

China, Laos, Vietnam engage in ‘con’ hurling festival


Jiangcheng district in China’s Yunnan province will host a traditional ‘con’ throwing festival on November 10-12 for participants from Vietnam, China and Laos.

This was announced by authorities of Vietnam’s Muong Te district in Lai Chau province and China’s Jiangcheng district at a July 2 meeting in Muong Te on the border with China.

Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Song and Dance Festival to open


he Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to organise the Song and Dance Festival of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in Quang Tri province in July.

Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange to be held in Hoi An ancient city


Hoi An ancient city People’s Committee will coordinate with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japan Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam to organize the 9th Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange on August 21st and 22nd.
